Evaluación del inmunofenotipo en sangre periférica y en biopsias intestinales de perros con Enfermedad Inflamatoria Crónica Intestinal

Abstract

The etiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is unknown. This entity is characterized by the persistence and recurrence of gastrointestinal clinical signs and is considered the main cause of chronic vomiting and diarrhea in dogs. Interrelated immunological, dietary, genetic and environmental factors appear to play a role in the pathogenesis of this immunemediated disease. Its diagnosis is achieved after carrying out an exclusion protocol of all the potential causes of intestinal inflammation, accompanied by histological evidence of mucosal inflammatory infiltrate. In human medicine, the great advances reached in the study of IBD immunopathogenesis have allowed the development of new therapeutics based on immunotherapy and the description of useful immune biomarkers. However, the knowledge of immune system alterations during canine IBD is limited. For this reason, in the current study the peripheral blood and intestinal immunophenotype of dogs with IBD was assessed by flow cytometry.
