Abstract

Background: The cinema has always been interested in health and disease, medical research and the activities of health professionals, and ethics. The objective of this work is to apply the film for teaching purposes in the course "Research Ethics" (Master en Neurocontrol motor, Rey Juan Carlos University). Method: film teaching purposes was applied. The film was used to illustrate the contents of the subject, using film fragments in the classroom and to stimulate reflection and debate on various ethical issues related to research, discussing in the classroom several film clips. Finally, the film was used in this course as an assessment tool, through work that the students had to make a movie based on. Results: Using film as a teaching tool in research ethics course has ensured that students become more involved in the subject and the acquisition of both specific skills, such as cross such skills is provided as observation skills autonomous and collaborative work, oral and written expression, solving new problems, critical thinking, among others. Students were satisfied with this approach, which have been considered novel and entertaining, as well as facilitator of the process of teaching and learning. Conclusions: The film has proven to be a useful tool for the acquisition of specific and generic competences in the subject Ethics in Research .
