Abstract
Biosphere Reserves are tools for land planning that use participatory management to link biological diversity conservation and socioeconomic development including cultural values. Sustainable development is one of the cornerstones of Biosphere Reserves, in which main target is the population and its future. Linking territories is the main purpose of the Spanish Biosphere Reserves Network, boosting the results of sustainable develop- ment experimentation issue of UNESCO MaB Programme. This analysis uses Spanish MaB Committee socioeconomic report, Demonstratives Experiences Catalogue and managers interviews for participatory building of actions projects. Main results can be classified in three axes: negative demographic dynamic, local fortress of the Biosphere Reserves and demonstrative effects of the sustainable experiences.
