Zusammenfassung
This paper aims to analyze how the concept of homeland was resemanticized by the Spanish political party Podemos during the period 2014-2016. For this purpose, this work carries out a discourse analysis of a corpus composed of ten electoral speeches corresponding to three different electoral campaigns: the 2014 European election, the 2015 Spanish general election and the 2016 Spanish electoral rerun. Likewise, this work includes the assestment of an in-depth interview with Iñigo Errejón, the party’s main strategist in the period under study. Based on the study of these materials, this paper examines the reasons that lead the party to undertake this process of resignification, the way in which this semiotic activity is developed, the contents that this task involves and the implicit promise of a greater national cohesion.
