Abstract

To obtain a stratigraphical correlation between the different mines and quarries of Sedimentary Industrial Roks & Minerals in the Duero Basin, we have done a biostratigraphic study based on micromammals in the NE sector (neighbourhood of Burgos city, Spain), where lithological formations are the subject of controversial dating and terminology. Our work permits to fix the age of the formations of the NE sector in the Astaracian (upper Aragonian, end of middle Miocene), and to correlate them with those of the central sector of the Duero Basin, where gypsum and clays quarries are situated in guide levels in a good chronostratigraphic framework, also based on biostratigraphic studies of fossil micromammals.
