Resumo
Existen numerosas definiciones de recuperación en el ámbito de los trastornos adictivos, en particular en el trastorno por uso de alcohol (TUA). Sin embargo, los intentos por establecer el significado de la recuperación en el TUA no han logrado un consenso. A lo largo de este siglo, las propuestas han reconocido que la recuperación trasciende la abstinencia o la reducción del consumo, reflejando su naturaleza compleja y multidimensional. La recuperación del TUA se caracteriza por mejoras en diversas áreas de la vida del individuo, siendo un proceso dinámico, voluntario y autodirigido, donde el sujeto desempeña un papel activo en su camino hacia el bienestar. Las definiciones coinciden en la importancia del bienestar integral, incluyendo mejoras en la calidad de vida, el funcionamiento biopsicosocial, el bienestar eudaimónico y las relaciones interpersonales. No obstante, persisten debates sobre la inclusión del manejo de la sustancia en las definiciones de recuperación en el TUA. Además, recientemente, ha surgido una nueva controversia con la inclusión de la remisión de los criterios diagnósticos del TUA en las definiciones de recuperación. Este trabajo propone incorporar la capacidad de controlar la conducta como un elemento en la definición de recuperación para resolver estas discrepancias. Este enfoque reconoce la variabilidad individual y aboga por la implementación de terapias personalizadas dentro de un marco de tratamiento centrado en la persona.
