Sustainable development goals

Abstract

Impulsada por su icónica imagen de sol abundante y paisajes idílicos, los pequeños estados insulares en desarrollo han reconocido y promocionado potentes sectores turísticos, debido a sus limitadas oportunidades de diversificación económica. Sin embargo, los efectos negativos de este desarrollo turístico son cada vez más evidentes en la degradación de sus recursos ambientales, con pérdida de hábitats en las áreas costeras que suponen una gran amenaza para manglares, estuarios y arrecifes. En la presente investigación se analiza el caso de Curazao, prestando especial atención a los recursos ambientales que atesora, junto a sus vulnerabilidades en lo referente a su déficit hídrico y su alta dependencia energética de los combustibles fósiles, así como todo ello puede influir en la pretendida sostenibilidad de su desarrollo turístico.
