Abstract

Since it was born, photography has maintained a close relationship with science and cultural heritage. Its condition of automatism gave it a supposed objectivity and enabled it as a solution to the issue of the awful subjectivity introduced by the artist’s hand in his drawings and sketches. The catalog or inventory was early proposed as a key tool for the preservation of cultural heritage, and photography was an inseparable tool for this purpose.
