Abstract

To evaluate the dimensions of the ocular intermediate segment in vivo using swept-source optical coherence tomography (OCT-SS) according to race (Hispanic and Caucasian) and refractive error (high myopia (HM) and emmetropic), also analyzing the reproducibility of the measurements. Lastly, the correlation between ocular intermediate segment dimensions and other variables such as age, spherical equivalent (SE), intraocular pressure (IOP), and gender was studied.Method: A unicentric cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the dimensions of the ocular intermediate segment: conjunctiva-Tenon thickness (CCT), anterior sclera thickness (AST), ciliary muscle thickness (CMT), ciliary muscle length (CML). Measurements were performed manually in the nasal and temporal quadrants, at distances of 1, 2, and 3 mm from the scleral spur (SS) using the OCT-SS DRI- Triton® (Topcon, Tokyo, Japan). The correlation of the intermediate segment dimensions with factors such as age, SE, and IOP was analyzed. The reproducibility of the measurements was studied in a randomly selected sample of Hispanics subjects...
