Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Neotectónica y tectónica activa de la cuenca de málaga (Cordillera Bética Occidental) 2008. Supervised by Dr. José Jesús Martínez Díaz.

Professor at the Department of Geodynamics, Stratigraphy and Paleontology of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has participated in more than 20 research projects ranging from the most purely scientific aspects related to earthquake geology, active tectonics, paleoseismology and neotectonics, to those of a more applied nature in engineering geology and rock mechanics, mainly considering the seismic phenomenon (seismic hazard assessment, slope stability, site effect, seismicity induced by reservoirs, ...). The scientific results achieved with these projects, as well as those obtained with the completion of his doctoral thesis, have been reflected in more than 50 publications in scientific journals (32 of them in indexed journals), as well as in more than 120 communications presented at national and international congresses and seminars.
