Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Las portadas de "ABC" de la Primera Guerra Mundial como fuente documental y fotoperiodística 2016. Supervised by Dr. Javier Fernández del Moral.

Juan Manuel Barceló Sánchez (Elche / Elx, 1971) develops his teaching and research work in the Department of Journalism and New Media of the Faculty of Information Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid. In addition, under the Erasmus Program he has participated in stays and teaching experiences in other European Universities such as the Università degli Studi in Milan (Italy), the Libera Università María SS. Assunta of the Vatican City and the Kazimeras Simovicius University of Vilnius (Lithuania). Likewise, he has developed Research Projects in stays at other universities such as the Las Américas University Center in Veracruz (Mexico). In the same way, he has participated in several National and International Congresses, either as a communicator or as members of the Scientific or Organizing Committees. He has an extensive professional career in the Media, with more than 23 years as a professional in the Vocento Group, where he was in charge of projects such as the launch of the digital version of the prestigious ABC newspaper. He is a Doctor Cum Laude in the Doctoral Program in Journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Information Sciences-Journalism Branch in 1999. He is an active member of the research group Dialectical Mediation of Social Communication, rated Excellent (MDCS), qualified as a group of Excellence (U. Complutense / Community of Madrid). Most of his work as a teacher and researcher is focused on both the historical and current field of the Sociocultural Influence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the Multimedia use of Technology in Communication companies and also in the field of Teaching Innovation. He has developed his professional and teaching activity in Spanish, Valencian / Catalan, English and Italian. He has published in prestigious Spanish and Ibero-American magazines in the field of communication (Dissertations: Electronic Yearbook of Social Communication Studies; Aposta: IROCAMM-International Review of Communication and Marketing Mix; Pensar la Publicidad: International Journal of Advertising Research; Doxa Comunicación: Interdisciplinary journal of communication and social sciences), as well as several book chapters in publishers such as Tirant lo Blanch, Sílex or Gedisa, as sole author and co-authored.
