Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Estudio fraseológico del uso de colocaciones gramaticales y grupos léxicos en textos argumentativos nativos y no nativos análisis de corpus de estudiantes 2007. Supervised by Dr. JoAnne Neff van Aertselaer.

Dr. Juan Pedro Rica Peromingo is an Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics and Translation Studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He teaches in the Degree on English Studies and the Master’s degree on English Linguistics: New Applications and International Communication (MLINACI). He has been the Director and Academic Coordinator for the MLINACI for 5 years. His research and publications record on corpus linguistics, translation studies and audiovisual translation, in particular on linguistic accesibility (subtitling for deaf-and-hard-of-hearing population and audiodescription for the blind). He has published several articles in journals, book chapters and some books on corpus linguistics, translation studies and audiovisual translation (the last one being Aspectos lingüísticos de la traducción audiovisual (TAV) in Peter Lang). He has been a member of the UCM Research Groups Aplicación de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación a la traducción (940989) and Grupo de investigación en traducción literaria (970625), and he is the main researcher and responsable for the UCM Research Group called Traducción, Traducción Audiovisual (TAV) y Accesibilidad Lingüística (TRADAVAL) (970828). He also participates as a researcher in the Research Group Transmedia Catalonia at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, where he has also being teaching for 3 years in the Máster Europeo en Traducción Audiovisual en línea (METAV). He has been (and is currently) the director and main researcher of several Proyectos de Innovación docente de la UCM. He has participated in several national and international congresses delivering conferences in Spanish and international universities. He has also enjoyed some research stays at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and a research grant for the Imperial College London (London, United Kingdom). He is currently writing an article on linguistic accessibility for a book on audiovisual translation and a book in Peter Lang called Corpus-based Studies and Audiovisual Translation: Subtitling. In 2018 he enjoyed a new research stay with a grant from the Ministry of Education (José Castillejo) in the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) at the University College London (London, United Kingdom). At the end of 2019 his most recent book called Lingüística de corpus de estudiantes. Estudio fraseológico del lenguaje académico escrito nativo y no nativo en lengua inglesa was published. He has recently been appointed as committee member for the Immersive Accessibility ISO standard and for the Spanish AENOR UNE for the accessibility norms.
