Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Cardiometabolic risk factors and periodontitis association and preventive and therapeutic implications 2021. Supervised by Dr. Mariano Sanz Alonso, Dr. David Herrera González.

Associate Professor in Periodontology at the University Complutense of Madrid. Member of the ETEP (Etiology and Therapy of Periodontal and Peri-implant diseases) research group. I graduated in Dentistry at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) where I also completed the Master in Dental Sciences and the EFP-accredited Postgraduate Program in Periodontics and Dental Implants. I received a grant to partially carry out my doctorate studies at the Forsyth Institute, successfully defending my PhD thesis, qualified with Outstanding Cum Laude, an International Mention, and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. I also have a Degree in Design and Statistics in Health Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I have been an Associate Professor since 2018 and I have signed 14 research contracts (4 competitive and 10 non-competitive). I have published 43 JCR-indexed scientific manuscripts, 39 of them in the first quartile (Q1), representing 90.7% of my publications. My total number of citations is 2612 (according to Google Scholar) with a mean number of citations per year of 461.6 in the last 5 years. My h-index is 19. I also have written 2 book chapters. I have received several awards throughout my career, highlighting the Fonseca Prize from the Spanish Society of Periodontology (2021), the Senior Robert Frank award from the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), and several prizes regarding research and clinical communications from different societies (e.g. British Society of Periodontology, Spanish Society of Periodontology, Regional Dental Council from Madrid, etc.) I regularly lecture in national and international conferences and I am a member of the Expert Council of the Osteology Foundation and of the Education Committee of the EAO. I am also the secretary of the working group between the Spanish Society of Periodontology and the Spanish Society of Diabetes.
