SILVERA ROIG

Marta Silvera-Roig (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) holds a PhD with European Honours in Cognitive Sciences from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She is currently a PhD Assistant Professor at the Department of English Studies of The Complutense University of Madrid, and a member of the Biopoetics, Cognitive Semiotics and Neuroesthetics research group of the University Institute of Biomedical and Health Research (IUIBS-ULPGC). Her academic background is at the intersection between Human Sciences and Natural Sciences. Thus, prior to her PhD, she completed two master's degrees in High Philological Specialization (Institute of Human and Social Sciences of CSIC) and in Translation (Complutense University of Madrid,) and she obtained the title of University Specialist in Neurosciences at the University of La Laguna. Silvera-Roig’s experience as a researcher includes stays abroad at the University of California at Berkeley, Texas A&M University and the University of Graz. In Spain, she has been a visiting researcher at the University Institute of Biomedical and Health Research (IUIBS) and at the Mixed Center of Evolution and Human Behavior (UCM - Carlos III Health Institute). Her academic interests revolve around new cognitive studies in Neuroaesthetics, Semiotics and Cognitive Narratology. In particular, her studies are based on investigating the importance of Affective Neuroscience in the invisible and visible mechanisms of human creativity.
