Resumen

The synthesis and the structure of a luminescent octanuclear 2-pyridylethynyl cluster [Pt2Cu6(bzq)2(C=C- C5H4N-2)6I2] (1) is reported. An X-ray diffraction study of 1 reveals an unusual Pt2Cu6 species formed by a central dicationic hexanuclear copper(I) core [Cu 6(C=C-C5H4N-2)2I2] 2+ assembled by two monoanionic benzoquinolinate dialkynylplatinate(II) [Pt(bzq)(C=C-C5H4N-2) 2]- fragments. Solid-state and solution photoluminescence properties at 298 K and at 77 K are discussed in the context of the structure. © 2009 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
