Resumo

SUMMARY Nursing students at the end of their studies must obtain a series of competences, including communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Such competences have a special relevance since they are some of those known as transversal competences. This study compares the effectiveness of the traditional seminar with a novel way of imparting the seminars, which consists in the management of talent to improve competences. In this case, it is analysed the competence of communication and interpersonal relationship, which compose the sixth competence of the ECOEnf Scale. The fusion of intelligent communication, elevator pitch, feedback and talent can help students achieve optimal results in acquiring the communication competence. To do this, a program called TalEnf and implemented by the nursing students is designed in the seminars of the subject of mental health and addictions. The program consists of four phases and includes different tools such as the elevator pitch technique and the evaluation of 360º feedback in order to achieve maximum objectivity. The present study has an experimental design with two parallel and independent groups. A sample of 228 students in an experimental group, composed of 163 students and the other control, composed of 65 students. The results were analyzed categorically, showing the descriptive and inferential results of each of the thirteen items that make up the ECOEnf scale in the competence of communication and interpersonal relationship. It is concluded that the program of communication competence development through talent management, based on the elevator pitch technique and 360 feedback, is more effective than the development of the traditional seminar to improve this competence. That is, the TalEnf program is effective to improve communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
