Resumo

ABSTRACT Computerization and the use of new technologies is an ongoing process which is increasingly present in our society and in our profession. All health areas are affected by this process of computerization. But there are still nurses who have difficulties using them, especially those who have spent more years in their profession and belong to the generation that "saw technology arrive", so they have had to adapt to a new way of working which many of them have problems to get used to. Hypothesis: The study population lacks sufficient information skills to use the most frequently used ICT in their daily work. Objectives: To test the degree of possession of information skills of a sample of active nurses in the Community of Madrid. Material and method: There has been a cross-sectional analytical study with nurses working in health centers in the Community of Madrid, both public and private. The data was obtained through a questionnaire, designed and validated on purpose for this study, with 36 closed-type questions about knowledge, skills and attitudes to the use of new technologies of those who have voluntarily cooperated with this investigation. The Microsoft Office Excel 2010 and SPSS 20 programs have been used to process and analyze the data and get the results. Conclusions: The information skills which nurses who participated in this study have to use ICT in their work environment are very basic and upgradeable. Only 50 individuals, 9.68% of the sample, have full information skills.
