Abstract

The increase in life expectancy, leading to increased chronic degenerative diseases, causing degrees of dependency and requiring use of the help of others to perform basic activities of daily life. The realization of care can be done for years which influence the quality of life creating an overload on the caregiver. To evaluate whether a nurse multifactorial intervention, based on a structured program of care for the caregiver influences reducing caregiver burden, relative to a nursing intervention based on current practice. DEVELOPMENT THEORY: multi-centric with repeated measures for the experimental group and the control group experimental clinical trial. The study reached a final sample of 51 informal caregivers The randomized variables used in the study were: to assess test Zarit caregiver burden, DUKE-UNCK test to assess perceived social support, HAD test to assess levels of anxiety and depression in caregivers and questionnaire SQ-36 quality of life for the caregiver. In the experimental group nurse researchers applied the intervention group psychoeducational treatment according to protocol 3 sessions. For three months after completion of the intervention, telephone follow-up was performed. Results at three months was measured in both groups. CONCLUSION: The socio-sanitary characteristics of informal caregivers of dependent patients can be included in women in the sixth decade of life, level of high school, married, daughters dependent patient, much has paid work, suffering from diseases chronic and habitual use of formal support services. It has been found that multifactorial intervention nurse, based on a structured program of care for the caregiver gets reduced caregiver burden, about a nurse intervention, based on past practice.
