Abstract

Beekeeping is a livestock farming that generates goods and profit. Some distinctive features of this animals have triggered its use on rural development projects.The work presented hereinafter has strengthen a previous intervention, helping to diversify income sources around beekeeping. The use of movable hives ensures the maintenance of honey bee colonies throughout long periods of time, even though the environmental conditions in the north of Ghana are not the best for this activity and the local subspecies tends easily to swarm. Beekeeping as a livestock provides sustainable income to the beekeepers.Furthermore, the repair of some physical and documentary lacks in an animal health school has increased immediately the quality of teachings and the competeces acquired for the students on the topic of zootecnics and honey bee health, establishing a direct contact of both teachers and students with the scientific method...
