Abstract
The negative repercussions on the periodontal tissues derived from thealignment of large bone-dental discrepancies on limited bone bases, and thedentoalveolar compensation of sagittal bone discrepancies, are today themain reasons for orthodontic extraction. The vast majority of studies on the adverse effects of orthodontics on alveolarbone have been limited to mesial and distal bone, largely due to theavailability of two-dimensional radiographic records.OBJECTIVE:The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of orthodontictreatment with Damon® apparatus on periodontal bone tissues usingComputed Tomography Computed Tomography (CBCT), to determine theprevalence, incidence and severity of fenestrations and bone dehiscences; And its association with periodontal factors (periodontal biotype), orthodonticfactors (bone-tooth discrepancy, bone class, vertical pattern, molar class)and anatomical factors (intercanine and interpretational distances)...
