Resumen

PROCESAMIENTO DE LA INFORMACIÓN EMOCIONAL RELACIONADO CON LA ANSIEDAD EN LAS PERSONAS MAYORES Vulnerability to anxiety is characterized by two types of biased patterns of selective processing of emotional information (Mathews and MacLeod, 2005). First, heightened anxiety vulnerability is associated with an attentional bias towards threatening stimuli. Second, such vulnerability also is associated with an interpretive bias, involving an increased tendency to resolve ambiguity in a threatening manner. These anxiety-linked effects have been well demonstrated in young adult population. However, few studies have investigated the relationship between anxiety vulnerability and the cognitive processing of emotional information in older people. The present work aimed to determine whether this relationship may differ in older adults.
