Abstract

College radio is a communication model that is long in the Americas. In 1922, American colleges were using radio stations to broadcast programs and readings by students and community volunteers. Argentine university also did the same with the creation of Radio Universidad de la Plata in 1924. More recent is this phenomenon on the European continent, where your starting point is in the decade of the 60. In Spain, the first experiences college radio back to 1974, with the birth of the first issues of the National University of Distance Education. The irruption of the so-called digital age has been an important platform for these radios. In so far this century, the so-called digital technology and media convergence have led to the breakdown of the radio space-time axis which had been the reference for radio communication throughout the twentieth century. In this sense, we can say that it's over the legal barriers and geographical boundaries imposed by issuing licenses and limits the exploitation of airwaves. College radio are taking advantage of new technological stage to issue alternative content production from within the University, creating a new communications paradigm. Although, some of them already have experience of production and consolidated programming, this type of radio is still important challenges to be considered tenable means of communication. In this communication it does a case study of the station from the Complutense University of Madrid, InfoRadio. This station is an example of academia transmitted by Internet and is present in social networks, as communication media.
