Abstract

The word descends from heaven and penetrates the woman. The scene of The Annunciation, although it presents different varieties, it is a scene that traverses the major part of Pedro Almodovar's filmography; so much so that one of his films is titled Talk to Her. The last effect of this way of speaking with the woman is, if everything goes well, the conception and birth of a new being. In these three Almodovarian films -Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, All about my Mother, Talk to Her- we explore on the one hand the presence of the masculine and paternal word that should be the announcement of a new conception, and on the other hand, the presence of a feminine figure that for being like a goddess becomes impenetrable.
