Resum
In this article we compare two modes of filmic narration: the post-classical and the classical. We enumerate the major features of the former, taking The Silence of the Lambs (Jonathan Demme, 1991) as an example; as an example of the latter we have chosen The Plainsman (Cecil B. DeMille, 1936). In both films we establish the distinctive features of the character of Buffalo Bill. We also compare the decisive figure of the Sender. We rely on the textual analysis methodology of professor Jesús González Requena and on the operations of the symbolic language observed by Roman Jakobson.
