Abstract

Current guidelines recommend in patients with a first episode of unprovoked venous thromboembolism treatment with anticoagulation at least for 3 months. In patients with a low or moderate bleeding risk, suggest extended anticoagulant therapy (no scheduled stop date). In high bleeding risk patients recommend 3 months of anticoagulant therapy over extended treatment.OBJECTIVES: 1. To know the frecuency of recurrences and major bleeding during anticoagulant therapy beyond the third month in patients of the RIETE registry aged >75 years with a first episode of unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease. 2. To know recurrence related mortality and major bleeding related mortality during anticoagulant therapy beyond the third month in patients of the RIETE registry aged >75 years with a first episode of unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease. 3. To know the frecuency of recurrences and major bleeding after discontinuing anticoagulant therapy in patients in patients of the RIETE registry aged >75 years with a first episode of unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease. 4. To know recurrence related mortality and major bleeding related mortality after discontinuing anticoagulant therapy in patients in patients of the RIETE registry aged >75 years with a first episode of unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease. 5. To identify prediction factors of major bleeding during anticoagulant therapy and of recurrence after discontinuing it in patients in patients of the RIETE registry aged >75 years with a first episode of unprovoked venous thromboembolic disease...
