Abstract
The Historia Augusta is a masterpiece of literary forgery, and therein lies much of the interest aroused among modern scholars. This paper seeks to face the author with his work investigating his general conception of deception and invention. The conductive thread of the investigation is the lexicon associated with this semantic area.
