This paper examines the relationships in the binomial musical styleyouth, as well as the importance of Raï music amongst young Maghrebis. Originally from Argelia, with over a century of existence, Raï has been adapting to the continuous changes of Algerian society. At first, it was a traditional music style, a form of song that gave expression to the miseries of life while at the same time questioning the social values rooted in the city of Oran in the early twentieth century. Later, it crossed the Algerian border to become the signature sound of young people from all the states that make up the Maghreb, as well as among those who were forced to migrate to other countries. The message of the song lyrics and their constant adaptation and fusion with more current urban styles, such as pop or rock, among others, have placed Raï music as a sign of identity around which many generations of Magreb youth have gathered to listen to music mixed with more up-to-date rhythms while maintaining the roots of its tradition intact.
