Abstract

This paper describes a questionnaire designed to assess premeditated and impulsive aggression in adolescents: the CAPI-A (Andreu, 2010). Applied to a sample composed by 825 adolescents between 12 and 17 years (51.6% men and 48.4% women), psychometric indices were adequate in relation to internal consistency and factorial validity, adequately discriminating among different groups of adolescents based on gender differences. Through regression models linear, different justifications beliefs related with contexts in which adolescents assess the degree of acceptance of aggression, it was found that justification for aggression in self-defense, under emotional exaltation or to achieve self-esteem or reputation social were significant predictors for both types of aggression. To sum up, the CAPI-A is an instrument that reveals sounds psychometric guarantees in adolescents for being used in socio-educational and psychological intervention settings.
