Resumen

Cooperative Learning (CL) is a powerful teaching tool in which small heterogeneous groups of students work together in order to achieve the required level of learning objectives. These factors are important in core matters of the Pharmacy Degree such as Pharmaceutical Technology I and Pharmaceutical Technology II. In our work we have implemented the CL technology, based on the jigsaw technique described by Aronson, in which interactions between students are studied by means of work groups created to complete tasks collectively toward academic goals and under the supervision of the professor. The teacher's role changes from giving information to facilitating students' learning. We have established 6 work groups (6 students/each). Of the six problems presented to the students, three were solved correctly by all the groups. Problem number six presented high difficulty since it corresponded to a more complex pharmaceutical formulation. Regarding individual evaluation, 97% of the students adequately responded to the practical case presented, from which high marks were obtained. The academic results obtained were good even tough both students and teachers considered high the teaching load implied in this type of learning activities.
