P. Vindob 19996 a col. II 2 contains a few lines from a Dionysian dithy-ramb that has given rise to different readings. Several Dionysian festivals – theGreat Dionysia, the Anthesteria and a possible mystic ritual – are also analysed because the cultic context in which the song was performed helps us when suggesting some of the readings
