Resumo
The aim of this study is to obtain evidence of the existence of differences in R&D spending efficiency, measured on thebasis of its impact on productivity. The procedure used for this allows us to obtain indicators of the importance of this impact, as well as its time distribution. The results obtained indicate that in all the countries studied the effect of R&D spending on productivity is positive and rising wiht the level of prior technological capitalisation, which indicates the presence of increasing scale returns and adjustment costs in these investments.
