Résumé
Oneof the objectives of this paper is to study the scaleof the recovery in the region of Madrid, as well as its position in relation to the inernational economy and the EU, through an analysis of the regional economy in 1994. In addition, the paper seeks to establish whether the regional government and the city council of the capital of Spain are aware of the problems that affect Madrid from the vantage of the global economy, andwhether, on the basis of a common strategy, appropriate measures are being taken to enhance the region's socioeconomic conditions, territorial model and international profile.
