Abstract
This is an article dedicated to metalinguistic capacity in language comprehension that clarifies some ideas from previous works about the metalinguistic capacity development in the child. The paper is based on the necessity to use contextual keys in comprehension functions (subject-object distinction, in this case). The investigation presented permits to set several levels of comprehension strategies and linguistic error detection, particularly focusing on an intermediate level of metalinguistic competency development, characterized by oscillatory answers in children that require contextual keys (even internals) to allow the comprehension, and those formal ones, in which these keys are not any more needed and of a consistent detection of linguistic errors.
