Zusammenfassung
The article examines the relationship between exporting and productivity at Spanish industrial companies on the basis of a sample of the Business Strategies Survey (BSS) during the period 1990-1996. The study confirms thatas a rule the efficiency is prior to the outset of exporting activity, which confirms the hipothesis that the market selects the most efficient companies. In addition, contact with export markets propitiates increased productivity, confirming the learning hypothesis.
