Abstract
The article is both a brief literature review and an analysis of tendencies and possible ways for research. It shows the importance of studying «West and Northern Polish Regions», former German territories which were given under Polish administration after the Second World War. As a laboratory to understand social, economical and national-identity changes in Europe, «Western Regions» constitute an outstanding object of study.
