Abstract
In this paper, we analize the influence that organizational structure has in the definition of personnel's compensation systems. The dimension chosen as representative of organizational structure is the interrelation among basic units and the interdependence among work groups. Generally speaking, by interrelation and interdependence we mean the same problem conceming to different levels of analysis, but whereas interrelation stands the strategy made out, the interdependence focus in tasks' organization, that is to say, units, groups and persons are independent or interdependent, even though dimensions chosen to assess the problem are different. We make a multiple dimensions choice about the concept of interrelation/interdependence at their different levels, and we look over the most important contributions that we have find in literature about the definition of compensation systems. Finally, we empirically contrast different assumptions about the relationship between inter-relation/linterdependence and compensation system, chosing a cross-section sample of firms, with different corporate and business strategies
