Abstract

The king Charles V was the first monarch of a new dynasty and his reign started a new period of the Castilian kingdom's History. In 1516 and 1517 fights and disturbs took place in the towns wich shows the hard differences and conflicts between urban oligarchies and monarchy. Those conflicts had never happened during the Catholic Kings' time. We could appreciate the urban political attitudes and also the political range and effectiveness of the Monarchy's power. At that moment, the Castilian Monarchy took care of the coherence between objectives and methods in the same way citizens observe the king as a symbol of the community. In this paper we present the urban society perception of political messages and purposes. The period, when Cisneros governed the Kingdom, was a difficult proof because they had to maintain the continuity during the absence of the king. At this time, the towns were summoned in juntas or meetings to show her disagreement and king Charles was alarmed of it
