Abstract
The period fixed by the Anglo-Spanish treaty of 1817 in order to finish with the slave trade of África, expired in 1820. During the «Trienio Liberal» (1820 – 1823) the decision in order to take measures to finish with the slave trade was rejected by the majority opposition ofthe Cuban and the Spanish deputies.
