Abstract

The French military Charles du Mouriez -a quite ambitious personage- traveled around the Iberic Peninsula from 1765 since 1767. As a result of his travels he made a plan to invade Portugal. In those moments the relationship between Spain and Portugal were very difficult because of their frontier dispute in America as well as their international alliances. Nevertheless the deportation of the Spanish Jesuits favored an unexpected change in the international context current after the Peace of Paris.
