Abstract

This paper proposes the development of an object oriented framework for Natural Language Generation Systems (NLG). It reviews the architectures used to date and a proposal for a generic architecture, and it describes the type of solution that is desired. From this information it is shown how the use of software engineering techniques, like Object Oriented Design or Design Patterns, can solve the more pressing problems of NLG. The implemented prototype is described together with two applications under development which use the framework.
