Abstract

During the first century of the Roman Empire, we found many bronze coins with Countermarks. Several of them are of military types and we found them in the militarized areas in Northern Spain during the augustean and julio- claudian age. With this study we tried to advance the knowledge of the different size of military Countermarks (eagle-head, L. VI, L.X and wild boar). These are closely linked with the Roman Army, connected with a political decision to supply coins to the Army in Northern Spain.
