Abstract

Over the last few years, public attention to and awareness of mobbing in the workplace have grown. Nonetheless, research in this field is just beginning in our country, leading to a situation where the problem is not well defined. Even though mobbing is an interpersonal phenomenon, it takes place in the interactive social system and it should be therefore addressed from a psychosocial approach. This paper reviews some current analysis about mobbingin the workplace from an organizational approach. Organizational factors associated withmobbing are clustered into four groups: work organization, corporative culture, leadership, and socio-economic environment. In order to achieve a better understanding of the mobbing process, likely cross relations between these factors are discussed. Final considerations reveal psychological mobbing as a complex phenomenon. Thus, the need is stressed to develop theoretical models covering both individual an organizational factors.
