Resumo
This article analyses the underdevelopment phenomenon and its consequences of poverty, inequality and deprivations that a large extent of the world population continues suffering. It is not possible to maintain the thesis that wealth is the main larget of the Economic Science. It is necessary to understand it as a science focused on fighting poverty, since in the current world persist extreme and massive underdevelopment together with a large gap between rich and poor countries. Therefore, we must become aware of the drawbacks of the predominance of the orthodox discipline of Development Economics, focused on anachronistic formulas that have proved not to be effective in overcoming inequalities.
