Factores psicosociales y síntomas depresivos: el caso de la auto-observación

Resumen

Se presentan dos estudios sobre la relación entre auto-observación (AO) y depresión. En el primero, 124 adolescentes y 156 universitarios completaron la Escala de Auto-Observación de Snyder y el Inventario de Depresión de Beck (BDI). Tres meses después, los universitarios rellenaron de nuevo el BDI. Un ANOVA sobre BDI con las variables sexo, edad y puntuación total en AO (alta, media, baja) mostró que AO no tenía ningún efecto en la depresión ni en solitario ni en interacción. Sin embargo, análisis de regresión utilizando los factores de AO hallados por Avia, Carrillo y Rojo (1987) indicaron que protagonismo-animación social estaba asociado a depresión, mientras que representación para influir en los demás (F2) era un factor de vulnerabilidad. En el segundo estudio, 79 universitarios completaron la Escala de AO y el BDI, y tres meses más tarde, el Cuestionario de Acontecimientos Vitales y el BDI. Análisis correlacionales y de regresión confirmaron que F2 estaba asociado a depresión y que el factor de consistencia principios-conducta agravaba el impacto depresógeno del estrés. Los resultados se discuten en relación a la multidimensionalidad de AO y a la investigación en depresión.
