Resumen

Se revisan los desarrollos más relevantes del concepto de deseo por la droga o 'craving', desde las formulaciones iniciales en el campo del alcohol, hasta las realizadas en el área de la dependencia a opiáceos. Se exponen los modelos más tradicionales basados en la concepción de la adicción como enfermadad para llegar a las propuestas conductuales y cognitivas, con mayor énfasis en la operativización y medida del constructo. En este sentido, los autores se detienen en la revisión de trabajos en los que aparece una evaluación del deseo por la droga tendente a su utilización práctica con fines de investigación y tratamiento
