Abstract

Soft tissue to bone anchoring systems were firsted used in traumatological and orthopedical patiens. They have been used for several purposes in Maxillofacial surgery. We present our experience with the Mitek® anchor device either to secure new temporomandibular joint structures like temporals muscle slings, dermal grafts, etc, or to recolocate the articular disk. We explain the surgical technique, and we show a 30 patiens-39 joint series where this anchoring system has been used, getting good results in 82% of the operated joints.
