Abstract

Bilateral neoplasia of the parotid gland are very rare Although bening pleomorphus adenomas are the most frequently reported, it is exceptional to find them bilaterally. We report here the only case of bilateral synchronous long lasting parotid mixed tumor in our experience of 320 mixed tumors operated since 1970. We conclude that the surgical treatment is indicated because the inesthetic deformity and the rare possibility of malignization. In the case of bening tumors, the surgery needs to be radical with the neoplasia but conservative with thefacial nerve. Wben it is injured we must use nerve grafts for its reconstruction.
