Abstract
Dermoides cysts (DC) are congenital lesions originated from the ectodermal differentiation of multipotential cells. The incidence of these lesions in the maxilofacial territory, is very low (6.9%). They are more common between the age of 15 to 35, without gender differences. Typically, they onset as a painless mass, and the clinical manifestations are related to the location and size. The diagnosis of these lesions is based on a clinical examination, imaging techniques and are confirmed with histologic tests. Finally, the treatment of DC is the complete removal of the cyst.
