Abstract

Objective: Nowadays, the most frequently used approaches for the treatment of fractures of the zygoma and orbit, are the subciliary incision and the transconjunctival approach. The objective of this study is to compare both aesthetic and functional postperatory outcomes, according to the approach used. Material and method: For the purpose, a cohortes retrospective analysis was conducted in 70 patients. In 53 cases a subciliary incision was used, and in 16 patients the transconjunctival approach was employed. A quality analysis was carried out, and therefore, several data were compared with the main approach. Results: Worse aesthetic and functional results were detected using the subciliary incisions. Conclusions: Although, results obtained in the present study are not concluent, the transconjunctival incision is recomended for the treatment of moderate orbital fractures.
