Abstract

A new application of bone osteotomies as a reconstruction method is presented. It has been used in 14 patients, 13 with malignant tumours and 1 with gunshot wound, 5 different types of osteotomies were used: Advancing osteotomy in "C" single sliding ostcomy, double sliding osteotomy, bilateral sliding osteotomy and sagital sliding osteotomy. The procedure failed completely in two patients. In two other patients complications were observed but with good results up to now. The rest of them (10) had good results. This is an easy and atraumatic method for mandibular reconstruction with no need for bone transferring.
